Family Finder: Friends GPS
This Privacy Policy applies to the Family Finder: Friends GPS mobile application (the "Application"), which is provided by an independent developer (the "Service Provider"). This service is intended for use as described in this Privacy Policy and is provided on an "AS IS" basis.
The Application is built for invite-based location sharing. Precise location is a core feature of the service and may be shared with accepted friends or family connections created through the invite flow.
Information Collection and Use
The Application may collect, process, store, or transmit the following categories of information:
- Account and identifier information, including an anonymous Firebase user ID created to operate the service.
- Precise location information, including latitude, longitude, timestamps, status, and related live-location updates needed to show shared locations in the app.
- Invite and relationship information, including recipient name, recipient phone number, invite ID, invite status, expiry information, and relationship metadata needed to create and manage location-sharing connections.
- Photos and images, if you choose to add a photo from your device, such as an invite photo or locally stored avatar/device image.
- Contacts data you choose to use, such as a selected contact name and phone number when using the contact picker to prepare an invite.
- Push notification identifiers, such as your Firebase Cloud Messaging token, so the Service Provider can deliver service notifications like invite acceptance updates.
- Purchase and subscription-related information, such as product selection, entitlement status, purchase events, and restore events processed through Apple and Apphud for premium access management.
- Locally stored app data, including saved device names, linked user IDs, avatar choices, image data, onboarding completion state, and similar convenience data stored on your device.
How the Application Uses Information
The Service Provider may use information collected through the Application to:
- authenticate users and keep the service operational;
- create, deliver, accept, revoke, or expire invite links;
- display live shared locations between accepted connections;
- store and display friend, invite, and profile-related details inside the Application;
- upload and retrieve optional invite photos or locally selected avatar images;
- send push notifications related to service events;
- manage premium access, free trials, purchases, and purchase restoration;
- respond to support, legal, security, or abuse-related issues; and
- maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Application.
Location Sharing
The Application is designed around location sharing. If you grant location permission, the Application may collect your precise location and store it on the Service Provider's backend so that accepted connections can see it inside the app. Location sharing depends on your permissions, device settings, battery state, network connectivity, and operating system behavior, so it may not always be continuous or perfectly accurate.
Contacts and Photos
Contacts access is optional. If you use the contact picker, the Application is intended to use the selected contact details to help you fill in an invite. The Service Provider does not intend to upload your full address book based on the current version of the Application.
Photo access is also optional. If you choose to attach a photo to an invite, that photo may be uploaded to cloud storage so it can be associated with the invite. If you choose a photo for a local avatar or device card, that image may be stored locally on your device.
Third-Party Services
The Application uses third-party services to operate core functionality. Depending on how you use the Application, your information may be processed by services such as:
- Firebase Authentication
- Cloud Firestore
- Firebase Cloud Storage
- Firebase Cloud Messaging
- Firebase Cloud Functions and Firebase Hosting
- Apple services, including StoreKit, Maps, and related system frameworks
- Apphud, for subscription and entitlement management
These third parties may process information in accordance with their own privacy policies and terms.
Third Party Access and Disclosure
The Service Provider may share or disclose information only as needed to operate the Application, comply with law, enforce rights, investigate abuse, or protect the safety of users and others.
Information may be disclosed:
- to trusted service providers who help operate the Application;
- to other users as part of the invite and accepted location-sharing relationship flow;
- if required by law, regulation, subpoena, or legal process;
- when the Service Provider believes disclosure is necessary to investigate fraud, misuse, stalking, harassment, or other harmful behavior; or
- in connection with a business transfer, sale, or reorganization, if ever applicable.
Data Retention
The Service Provider may retain information for as long as needed to provide the Application, maintain relationships created through invites, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
For example, location-sharing records, friendship metadata, invite data, notification tokens, and locally stored settings may remain available until they expire, are removed by app actions, are no longer needed, or are deleted following a valid request.
Your Choices and Rights
You can limit or stop certain data processing by:
- denying or revoking location, contacts, photo, or notification permissions in iOS settings;
- removing friends, dismissing ended relationships, or revoking pending invites in the app;
- managing subscriptions through your Apple account settings; and
- uninstalling the Application to stop future collection on that device.
If you want the Service Provider to delete data associated with your use of the Application, contact akopov.bohdan@gmail.com. Because the Application may use anonymous authentication, you may be asked for enough information to help identify the relevant records.
Children
The Application is not directed to children under the age of 13, and the Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If the Service Provider learns that a child under 13 has provided personal information, reasonable steps will be taken to delete that information. You must also be at least 16 years old, or the age required in your country, to consent to processing of your personal information where applicable.
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information and uses commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information processed through the Application. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The Service Provider may notify users of changes by updating this page. Continued use of the Application after changes become effective will be treated as acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
Your Consent
By using the Application, you consent to the collection, use, disclosure, and storage of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
